German Retro Finds

I love all things German. Today, we found a few German "vintage" items at the last day of an estate sale in Multnomah Village, in Portland, Oregon. The nice thing about going to an estate sale on Sundays is that they are usually selling everything at half price. The bad thing is that the sale has been thoroughly picked over by shoppers who got there on Friday and Saturday. But none of those people cared for the three Hummel figurine shadowboxes we found. So kitschy that they become attractive. Nor did they buy the Bavarian children's place setting with fairy tale images: Gestiefelter Kater (Puss in Boots) and Hans im Gluck (no idea what the English title is). The shadowboxes have found a place in our bathroom. The dishes may go to our son's German teacher who is from Bavaria and would probably appreciate them even more than I do.
